Necrobiosis Biography

Necrobiosis is one of Canada´s most committed and professional horror-grinding-death metal bands. Once they formed in 2004, there was no looking back as their energetic performances and captivating songs ensured a loyal following and positive reaction from crowds. There´s no denying that their combined experiences in previous bands shows through in their songwriting and professionalism. To date, they have created two albums, played many great shows and festivals, and obtained an endorsement from Moser guitars. There are plans for tours both nationally and internationally in the works.

The main base for Necrobiosis is Edmonton, Alberta; where a combination of mighty northern winter storms, drunken rednecks in pickup trucks, people getting stabbed nightly, cops punching handcuffed people in the face in front of horrified onlookers, and neglected mentally ill homeless people committing sex crimes combine to form a macabre inspiration for these fecund minstrels.

Curtis has been in numerous bands whose styles ranged from punk to death metal. While in Butane, he opened for Napalm Death and Kreator and while playing with Some Won Spit and Confront, he went on numerous small tours. He is a classically trained musician and has been playing guitar since he was eight. (Read more...)

It is widely believed that Curtis draws inspiration from his time in the Canadian forces. It is said that the war crimes he committed were so brutal that instead of disciplining him, all official records were destroyed and he was tranquilized and dropped in a field just outside Edmonton. He rarely speaks about this time but a distinctly murderous look will appear in his eyes as he plays many of the devastating riffs that comprise Necrobiosis´ musical repertoire.

The resident technician, Josh, is driven by his love to travel and meeting new people. He regularly attends the NAMM show not only as a function of his job, but also to meet others in the industry. His playing style is mainly influenced by old school thrash and power metal. (Read more...)

Before joining up with Curtis to start Necrobiosis, Josh spent his free time tying cords around road kill and dragging it behind his car to cause birds to congregate in the middle of the road. He would then turn around and drive back down the road trying to hit as many birds as possible. This activity is believed to have been Josh´s main source of food and recreation for years.

Pat, the newest member, gained infamy from his seven year crusade as the vocalist for Red Tide. He has shared the stage with Dying Fetus, and has toured with Gwar, Dead Jesus, Divine Empire, and Skinless. In his own words he is: distraught – always, consuming… habitually, and opinionated – always. (Read more...)

Few know that Pat is in fact an immortal and is said to have lived for over 1000 years; occasionally beheading rival immortals and in doing so, absorbing their power. That said - even fewer know that Pat is actually from the future and has enlisted the help of his pal "the professor" to repair the flux capacitor in his 1981 De Lorean DMC-12; but only after retrieving some priceless artifacts from the greedy hands of Belloq.

The beat that holds in all together comes from Paul. Punishing drums came to him naturally and he has played in bands such as Incarnadine which gained a fair bit of recognition around Edmonton. He was snapped up by Necrobiosis to help form that crushing back beat. (Read more...)

There is much speculation about where Paul earned the nickname "Dog Boy". Some say he worked in a dog food factory. Others say he was caught napping inside of a gutted large breed dog as a child. It is rumored that Paul has participated in an illegal/underground 700 man gangbang wherein the hooker died halfway through and no one noticed. Paul is believed to have been #668 and has yet to be brought to justice.
